Suicide Awareness and Prevention Seminar

Alabama Veterans Memorial Park

The US Army has designated September as Suicide Prevention Month.  Therefore, as a part of our continuing efforts to educate, inform, and assist veterans, The Alabama Veterans Memorial Foundation is sponsoring and hosting a free Suicide Awareness and Prevention Seminar for veterans and their families and anyone of the general public with an interest.  The seminar will be conducted on Sunday 11 September at 4 PM at the Alabama Veterans Memorial Park located just off of I-459 at the Liberty Parkway exit (Exit 23).

 

The seminar will be conducted by an experienced counselor from US Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center here in Birmingham.

  

There will be free snacks and refreshments available to all who attend.  Please share this information to all the veterans and veteran’s organizations that you are affiliated with or within your circle of influence as well as anyone from the general public. We appreciate your support and attendance for this worthy cause even if you do not think you know of anyone suffering or susceptible to suicide.    

 

There is no registration required and this is open to the public.

1st Annual Alabama Veteran’s Brew Fest

People of all ages are encouraged to come out and support our local veterans at Avondale Brewery on July 30th from 12-6pm!  Local live music and raffles from 3-6pm!  Raffle tickets ($5 each) will be sold at the event.  See the list of Prizes and other info here.

All raffle proceeds and 10% of the day’s sale proceeds will go to benefit the Alabama Veteran’s Memorial Foundation!  Additional donations at the event are certainly welcomed and appreciated.

As part of The Alabama Veterans Memorial Park’s outreach educational programs for veterans, we will partner with the Financial Planning Association of Birmingham (FPA) to provide at no charge one-on-one financial counseling sessions at the Park for veterans, current service members and/or their families.

As a part of our continuing efforts to educate, inform, and assist veterans, The Alabama Veterans Memorial Foundation is sponsoring and hosting a free Suicide Awareness and Prevention Seminar for veterans and their families and anyone of the general public with an interest.  The seminar will be conducted on Sunday 5 June at 2 PM at the Alabama Veterans Memorial Park located just off of I-459 at the Liberty Parkway ext (Exit 23).

 

The seminar will be conducted by experienced counselors from The Vet Center, a subsidiary organization within/under the umbrella of the Department of Veterans Affairs.  Their local office is located on Emery Drive in Hoover.

  

There will be free snacks and refreshments available to all who attend.  I could use your help in forwarding or disseminating this information to all the veterans and veteran’s organizations that you are affiliated with or within your circle of influence as well as anyone from the general public.  I urge your support and attendance for this worthy cause even if you do not think you know of anyone suffering or susceptible to suicide.
