The Hall of Honor temple, houses the individual names of over 11,000 Alabamians who lost their lives in the defense of freedom.  Their sacrifice will be forever remembered in the etched stone. An important mission of the Alabama Veterans Memorial is to educate young people about war and peace and civic responsibility. Today's high school students were not born when the last US troops left Vietnam, and, if recent test results are valid, today's college students have almost no knowledge of WWI and WWII and even less of the Korean Conflict.
