StepStone for Alabama Veteran
The Alabama Veterans Memorial Foundation believes that every veteran deserves a tangible way of being publicly recognized for his or her service. Encircling the flag pole are very special 4 inch by 8 inch brick pavers, called StepStones. Anyone can honor a veteran by purchasing a StepStone for a $100 donation.
These StepStones have been engraved with a veteran’s name, rank, and branch of service. The honored veteran can be from any service time, any state and any branch; they may be deceased or living; or, currently serving. Also, a military unit or a military-affiliated organization may be honored with a StepStone.
If you want an acknowledgement letter sent to your honored veteran, please email his or her address to info@alabamaveterans.org and your name and address and relationship to the veteran.
If the veteran is deceased and there is someone else to whom you would like an acknowledgement letter sent, please email that to info@alabamaveterans.org and let us know the relation to the veteran.

Dedication Ceremonies
Would you be willing for our publicity volunteer to contact you about possible inclusion in the Park’s publicity before or after the event? Dedication Ceremonies are held the Sunday before Memorial Day and the Sunday before Veterans Day at the Alabama Veterans Memorial Park (I-459 and Liberty Parkway Exit 23 in Birmingham). Purchasers or another designated person may speak briefly about their honored veteran; they may write a paragraph for a Park representative to read; or, they may prefer to have only the veteran’s name, rank and branch spoken for the dedication. Purchasers will be contacted the month before the event with information about the ceremony.
